School's Out

It has been awhile since I updated and I have no excuse other than we have just been busy trying to get through and wrap up all that we had going on.

We are finally in the home stretch of school as in tomorrow is our last day! We are all so excited as we have a huge change next year with school and the kids.

After much prayer, thinking, praying, planning, praying, discussion and more prayer we have decided not to enroll the kids back into the public school system. There were so many issues that we could see it was not in their best interest, nor was it a good environment for them to continue to be exposed to. After much research, interviewing, talking, visiting, and gathering information we reached what we feel is the best choice for the kid’s education.

Kasey and Conner will be going to Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy~ it is a college prep, private Christian school. It uses a university-style course schedule in which the kids are on school campus three days each week (M/Tu/Th) and complete professional instructor-prepared lessons at home the remaining two days.

 

Adrianna and Wesley will be home schooled using two different curriculum methods that will work best to help them stay excited and eager about learning. We will work their learning time around the schedule of Kasey and Conner, so while they are in school those three days we will work at home. Kasey and Conner will be at school only from 9 am – 1 pm.

In August we will have to start school three days sooner than we use to, but we will get out three weeks sooner in the summer. In addition to that we will have a week of winter break, three weeks off for Christmas and there are no snow days, so we will not have to go on holiday’s to make those days up.

Mike and I both are going to be teaching the kids at home. The kids are so excited and ready to get started; they were becoming frustrated with the work that was given to them at school. By home schooling they can move at their individual pace and not have to wait on others to “catch up”.

We are being realistic in knowing that it will not be instantly smooth process once we start and that is okay. We are all in this together and will work it out so that it works best for all of us. Having the right attitude is the first best step.
