Wesley is doing really well in school. He mastered all the subjects on his last report card. His reading level is on the end of a second grade level, as well as mastering his spelling words. He takes a spelling test on a Monday and if he makes a 100 then he will move onto challenge words, which are end of first grade/second grade words to learn. The past month he has had challenge words. Mike says that he is a lot smarter than he lets on or acts. I agree! I think his “restlessness” is more of boredom than not knowing or understanding. He can read a book and then take an AR test the next day and make a 100. He really takes things in and asks questions when something has his interest.
Mostly though he is as silly as silly can be!! He is a lot like his daddy; very laid back, easy going and loves to make people laugh. He always is smiling and having a good time no matter what he is doing, it is always “so fun”. Wesley is our nightly dinner entertainment. He is so funny and will always say something that has all of us laughing so hard at/with him. When he gets the giggles, laughing you can see his brown eyes shining and you can’t help but laugh.
He still will come and cuddle in our laps or right up next to us on the couch. He will go to Kasey and let her “baby” him and do things for him, I think just so he won’t have to. He says why should he do something if Kasey will do it for him? He follows Conner around and wants to be just like him. He has decided he likes to play with the same things that Conner does. He also said he is not interested in girls unless they will play basketball, foursquare, or kickball. He gets along well with everyone in his class and the kids in the neighborhood as well.
Wesley loves to eat ketchup on everything, I mean EVERYTHING! Peas, carrots, salad, beans, mac-n-cheese, eggs, mashed potatoes, sausage, rice, potato salad, broccoli, and all meat that is served. He will even sneak and drink it out of the bottle if he can. We saw the perfect poster advertising a shirt that is so Wesley. It said, “I eat ketchup on my ketchup”. For Christmas he asked for his own bottles of ketchup so that way he could eat how much and on what he wanted without daddy being able to tell him no. He received five bottles in different sizes and he has already gone through four of them. He is getting upset that he is almost out and decided that having a birthday in July is too far away and not good, because he will be out of ketchup before then.
One big problem we have started having with Wesley is he is starting to tell-what he calls-little stories (lie). We are trying to explain to him that they are not stories they are lies. We are also trying to be patient and realize that this is a result of his “friends” at school. He can be talked into and influenced to go along with the crowd or even one other child. He also is like Kasey in the way of he believes everything you tell him. He has a good heart and thinks of others trying to make them feel better even if it means doing the wrong thing.
