Adrianna Update

Adrianna is still an entity unto herself. She is continuing to excel in school. She now is in a third grade math class and a higher reading class, so she leaves her class for a few hours three times a week to go to another classroom to challenge and push her. She continues to be a tutor teacher to a kid in her class helping him and explaining the work so he can understand it. She enjoys doing that and it makes her feel good to help others. She also entered the contest sponsored by the United Way entitled -Teacher Effectiveness: My Best Teacher
She chose her first grade teacher and entered in the essay category. Out of the whole district she came in second place out of 100 kids.
She still continues to be very loving and kind to those she chooses who are worthy of her love. She is a bit guarded now at giving her love to people at times; especially since she is deeply hurt by someone she loved as much as mommy and daddy.
She is still asking lots and lots and lots AND LOTS of questions!! She is forever wanting to know the: who, what, when, where and especially the why of things! No one and no topic seems to be off limits. We have had to look at her and say, “enough,” she will lower her head and say, “sorry”.
It is keeping me on my toes. I want her questioning things she doesn’t understand and am excited that she loves learning new things, she can take it all in and remember everything you tell her; but we really need to work on appropriateness of some of these questions. Adrianna is fearless (in nearly everything really) but specifically in regards to being herself. She knows who she is and what she likes and doesn't like and what she wants to do and who she wants to be.
She is undecided about wrestling again next year but is thinking she might. Conner really is trying to talk her into doing it again. She is not scared, just trying to decide if there is something else she would rather try. Adrianna placed third in tournaments and was very proud of herself for trying and working hard to prove herself. She of course won over her teammates and coaches who cheered her on.
She also loves to read and will get completely lost in a book ignoring everything else. Her reading level is now on a fourth grade level and she will read any kind of books not having a certain favorite one. Right now her and Conner are sharing their books and offering suggestions to each other. She continues to be a reading queen in her class but is not queen each month complaining that it is not fair like last year since kids that are on a lower level get to read easy thin books and she has to read bigger ones that take longer. When she is not reading in her spare time she is playing with her Barbie house. She is content to spend hours playing with them and will even –from time to time- let Wesley come in and be “Ken”.
Adrianna continues to amaze us all and at least once every night says something so funny at dinner that has us all laughing so hard.

Last night after she had taken her shower she got out and when drying her hair decided that it aggravated her by getting in her face. She “fixed” it by getting the scissors and cutting some bangs on herself and then stayed upstairs in her room until dinner time when she came down. Mike was not happy at all to see what she did. She said it aggravated her so she fixed it and now it didn’t bother her anymore. He asked her if she thought he wouldn’t notice and that was not a way to fix it. She said well, I knew you would see it but I can’t put it back on now.
