Spring Break

For Spring break we went back to Georgia to be with family for Easter and then headed out for our own family time together.

We had a great time visiting with family it was a stress free visit. We were able to spend time without having to rush from place to place.

When we left family we decided to head north toward Chattanooga, we made it close to Ringgold, Georgia before we were detoured off onto a two-lane road (due to the tornados that happened the night before) winding up 45 minutes later back on the interstate right outside Sweetwater, Tennessee. That was fine with us, as we had no set destination in mind, we had decided to just drive and stop when we saw something that one of us thought was interesting. It was nothing like we had ever done before- going on a trip without a plan. Mike and I thought this is going to be fun or this will be the worst idea we had.

We all had a good time and no one complained anytime one of us wanted to stop and check something out. The first place we stopped were the Etowah Indian Mounds in Cartersville, Georgia. The kids loved exploring the grounds and reading about the Indians life back then. We again went to The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, Tennessee. We also went to Sweetwater Valley Farm, it was advertised as Cheese! Cows! Wow! The Udder Story! It was a real working dairy farm that pasteurized it’s own cheese. We were finally able to see what a cheese curd is, how it’s made and even how it tasted as well.

We also spent time in Asheville, North Carolina. We walked the 5-mile Urban Trail, visited the Colburn Earth & Science Museum, The Pak House, Old Jail Museum.  The last place we spent a day at was The Carl Sandburg House National Park in Flat Rock, North Carolina.

It was a fun, laughter filled family trip that will not be forgotten.
