This year’s Thanksgiving was unlike any we had before. Well one time over 15 years ago Mike and I had Thanksgiving alone, just the two of us. He was working at GA-3 then, which was out in California and couldn’t make it home so I flew out to be with him. We had a great time; I will never forget that year. That morning we woke up and drove to the top of the mountains and went snow tubing and then that afternoon drove back down and went to the beach.
Since then we have always been at home with all the family. That meant an all day feast. Three houses, three meals all in one day it was a tiring but good time seeing everyone and the kids playing with all their cousins. The food was always so good, real southern food.
This year was our first year that we were alone on Thanksgiving just the six of us here at home. We slept late and stayed in pajamas all day. I did cook; I made deviled eggs and a German Chocolate Cake for a friend who had family coming in town. I also cooked 3 turkeys and made deviled eggs for Mike’s Thanksgiving meal at GA-6.
We just enjoyed a quiet family day together. The kids made lists of things that they are thankful for and read them to us, they also sang a couple of songs and even did a dance they made up their selves for us. We also had another first this year; we put the Christmas tree up that night. Usually we wait and put the tree and all the decorations up two weeks before Christmas but this year the kids really wanted it up Thanksgiving night, so that’s what we did. Of course we also had our tradition of watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. It was a great day spent in a perfect way.
We have many things to be thankful for not just at this time of year but everyday and all the time. We are so blessed with many new friends and of course our old friends and most of all with a lot of family.
Ephesians 1:2-4
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
In love
