We had a very good day Sunday. Well technically every day is a good day that you wake up to. But we went to the church that we feel God has lead us to be at right now in this time. We are all finally at peace to know that we have a regular place to worship. The people there are very much just good ole country folk (their words not ours).
Sunday we went with about 25 others to a baptism. The church we are attending does not have a Sanctuary yet; they have started the building fund last month. They will begin when they have enough to pay in full, meaning not going into debt to build a sanctuary so people will come but waiting and trying to be the best stewards of God’s money that they can be.
Anyway, the baptism was held at a place called Linney’s Mill. It is a still ongoing corn mill. They continue to grind corn straight from the fields into fresh meal daily. It is a beautiful piece of scenery with the open fields and mountains all around, a creek running behind the mill complete with waterfall and water wheel. At the bottom of the waterfall is an area that many local churches use for baptisms. It was a joy to be there and to be able to share with the kids and explain that this is how people use to be baptized in a river, not in a baptistery with warm water.
After the baptism everyone went back over to the Pastor’s farm to have a picnic and see all his animals. He has over 200+ acres with 31 horses, 2 dogs, 3 cats and many hens and roosters.
The kids loved it. They had a ball feeding and petting the horses. Of course what farm is complete without tractors? He had a backhoe, front-end loader, and two regular farm tractors. The boys we thrilled to be able to see them and climb on them. Wesley of course announced he could drive one because his pawpaw showed him how.
Of course being Baptist there was a lot of food to eat. After supper we sang the hymn Amazing Grace, it was the sweetest sound. We were all touched by the testimony of the youth pastor and the message he shared.
Yes, a good day that the Lord has made.
