First of all, Conner is unbelievable. He is so focused and determined right before he steps up to the mat. When the coach is talking to him before his turn he is concentrating and getting his mind ready. He will always look at me right before he goes in and then he is ready. The look that comes over his face is a total transformation. He does not even look like my sweet Conner and he isn’t. He is now Conner-man the wild man of wrestling ready and eager to take anyone down. I enjoy watching him excel in something that he obviously loves to do and is very good at.
Now Wesley is a different story. He may not wrestle in any matches this year. He will only be able to wrestle if there is another 5 year old who also weighs the same, and it is also their first year. This year is mostly a learning experience for him. He has really been focusing and working hard at all the practices so next year he should be ready to go full force. He has also learned a lot but most of all he is having fun. I know because the whole time he is on the mat he is smiling and even laughing when he gets the other boy on his back. The coach has to tell him, focus Wesley. It will be an experience for him when he finally steps on the mat and I just can’t wait to see him if/when he gets to wrestle a real match, I am sure it will be something else.
